How Much Aid Is Available

This is a big question.

Believe it or not, there is about $142 billion dollars of aid available. You only have to know where to get it.

† There's a student/parent share of $73 billion, which means that's how much the government expects you to pay. And then there is a student aid chart, which says there's about $142 billion from different sources of funding to help you pay for a college education.

You are paying tax dollars to fund these programs so a lot of people say "Well, is it really fair that I should take advantage when there are other needy students who need the money more?" You have invested, over your lifetime, thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars in funding all of these different programs. All you're doing is now you're at a point in your life where you actually should be taking advantage of funds that you have invested to help pay for your child's college education, so there's nothing wrong with you going and asking for your fair share.
